In tire sales outside Japan, Thailand-based tire retail chain operator B-Quik Co., Ltd. has been progressively opening new stores in suburban cities that are experiencing growth in tire demand. As of the end of March 2016, this company had a total of 125 stores in Thailand, and also opened the first store in Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh. Going forward, we will continue to steadily expand our store network as we aim to capture the needs in ASEAN nations.

Investment and participation in ASICS Asia PTE. LTD.


  • All-State Belting, LLCJoint sales operation with the major Japanese sports brand ASICS

Marubeni agreed to accept the third party allocation of shares by ASICS Asia PTE. LTD. (“AAP”), a 100% owned subsidiary of ASICS Corporation (“ASICS”), and has become a 35% shareholder in March, 2015.
AAP is located in Raffles Place, the central business district of Singapore, and ASICS places AAP as the regional headquarter of sales and marketing for Southeast and South Asia.
As the presiding company for these markets, in future AAP will accelerate sales expansion of ASICS brand by utilizing Marubeni’s knowledge for the advance in emerging countries. AAP will create an optimal sales network through such methods as establishing local subsidiaries and expanding its own managed sales areas in each country.

Acquisition of conveyor belt distributor

In 2013, Marubeni cooperated with Marubeni America Corporation to acquire an 80.1% share of All-State Belting, LLC (“ASB”), headquartered in Iowa. With additional investment, ASB is now a 100% subsidiary.
ASB is a conveyor belt distributor based in Iowa, which has the largest demand in the United States. They have established a comprehensive product lineup and an immediate delivery system for a wide variety of products, including the sale of belts to conveyor belt manufacturers and direct sales of conveyor belts to end users such as miners and farmers.
Marubeni is establishing a value chain for the entire rubber manufacturing process under a comprehensive business entity that handles from natural rubber to the products such as tires and conveyor belts. As part of this effort, Marubeni also acquired Canadian industrial conveyor belt distributor Belterra Corporation in 2007. The acquisition of ABS has given the Marubeni Group the largest market share for conveyor belts in North America.
Capitalizing on the group’s network in North America, and its supply sources in Asia and other areas, Marubeni will work towards enhancing its sales capabilities and expanding its market share in this industry.

In 1998, Marubeni Footwear Inc. became the Japanese exclusive distributor of “MERRELL,” the famous outdoor brand in the United States. By promoting the function and reliability developed for outdoor use, and the exceptional foot comfort that has won a lot of repeat customers, we have steadily increased the sales volume. Today, we operate six directly managed shops including Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Yokohama, Umeda, Futakotamagawa, and Shinurayasu.
In addition, our own child footwear brand “IFME” which is developed through industry-academia collaborations with sports doctors, has been well-received since its release in 1999. IFME is also gaining popularity overseas and now we sell this brand in various Asian countries including Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Korea, and Singapore, as well as the U.S.
