CSR Promotion Activities

CSR Roundtable

To enhance CSR activities at the Group level, Marubeni assigns Chief Administrators for CSR & Environment and CSR & Environment Representatives in all Business Groups, Corporate Staff Groups, offices and branches. Their role is to convey the importance of sustainability at Marubeni within each organization, from both CSR and environmental perspectives. A CSR Roundtable is also held, mainly involving the representatives* in each organization, to reaffirm the basic approach to the Marubeni Group CSR, and to share information on the latest trends outside the company. In the Roundtable held in September 2016, the focus was on risk management in the supply chain, with lively discussion and exchange of information on human rights, information disclosure, and international collaboration, as well as the growing demand for CSR procurement.

* The roles and titles of the CSR promotion representatives have been changed from FY2017.

Seminar on Human Rights Risks in Business

CSR promotion representatives as well as members from various business groups and corporate staff departments attended the seminar held at the Tokyo head office. In addition to the latest trends related to human rights risks in business, Mr. Ushijima talked about numerous examples of incidents that have arisen in various parts of the world, and how companies have responded. The seminar was a great opportunity to raise awareness amongst employees regarding the relationship between business and human rights. Some of the feedback from participants after the seminar stated that they obtained a renewed recognition of the importance of human rights-related risk management. Participants indicated that going forward, they plan to continue to closely examine the human rights risks within Marubeni and our supply chain, given its importance to Group corporate sustainability.
