Marubeni Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. announces first production at the Thunder Hawk field in the Deep Water Gulf of Mexico

Marubeni Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation) announces that its Thunder Hawk field located in Mississippi Canyon Block 734 in the Gulf of Mexico has commenced production.  The field lies in over 5,700 feet of water, approximately 145 miles southeast of New Orleans, Louisiana. A semi-submersible floating production unit with production capacity of 45,000 barrels of oil per day and 70 million cubic feet per day of natural gas is being utilized.  The field will initially produce from three subsea wells connected via flow lines to the facility.

Thunder Hawk field was part of the deepwater package acquired by Marubeni in March 2006 from Pioneer.  This first commencement of grass roots field development is a significant milestone in Marubeni’s growth plans for the region.

Marubeni Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. owns a 12.5% working interest in Thunder Hawk field. Co-owners in Thunder Hawk are Murphy Oil Corporation (operator) with 37.5%, Eni with 25% and StatoilHydro USA E&P, Inc. with 25% working interest.
